My Take
Audra McDonald sits in rarefied air for me. Six Tony Awards, the only person to win across all four acting categories, with a record stack of nominations, those are not just numbers but proof of a once-in-a-generation talent. As both a trained actor and opera singer, she brings a vocal range that makes her a genuine treasure of Broadway, and the fact that she conquers both song and drama means neither is a side hobby. What I admire most is the endurance, decades at the very top of a brutal, live-performance world. I would give anything to hear that voice in a room someday.
