My Take

I find August Ames a genuinely sobering figure to write about. By the numbers she was a success, over a hundred films and multiple AVN nominations in a short career, a recognized name out of small-town Nova Scotia. But what stays with me is that she died at twenty-three in 2017, after a brutal wave of online hostility. I think it is too easy to reduce performers in adult entertainment to a punchline, and her story is a reminder of the real person behind the screen. I would rather treat her memory with quiet respect than commentary, and simply hope she found peace.
