Barbara Becker

Barbara Becker interests me precisely because of how many lives she has stacked into one. Born in Heidelberg in 1966, she moved from modeling and acting into fashion design, eventually building a brand under her own name across both Germany and America. What strikes me is the shift from being looked at to being the one who creates. Plenty of people stay in the role assigned to them; she kept redrawing it. I am drawn to figures who refuse to be defined solely by early fame and instead carve out a space where their own taste sets the terms.
