My Take

Barbara Parkins carries the scent of old Hollywood, and that is exactly what draws me to her. Born in Vancouver in 1942 and educated at Hollywood High, she came up in an era of glamour and made the leap from model to actress with real ease. What I admire is her refusal to be one thing: actress, singer, dancer, and later a photographer too. That kind of restless, multi-disciplinary spirit feels almost rare today.
