My Take
Barry Keoghan is, to my eye, the most unsettling screen presence of his generation, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Plenty of actors can play menace; Keoghan plays ambiguity, that flicker behind the eyes where you genuinely cannot tell if a character is wounded or dangerous. From The Killing of a Sacred Deer to Saltburn, he keeps choosing roles that risk audience hatred, which takes real nerve. His Dublin upbringing seems to have given him a feral authenticity that drama schools cannot teach. The BAFTA win felt less like a peak than a down payment. I suspect his defining role is still ahead of him.
