Ben Lee

Ben Lee fascinates me as a true prodigy who refused to be a flash in the pan. He started making music at fourteen with Sydney's Noise Addict, then committed fully to a solo path that has since produced eleven studio albums, a remarkable run of staying power. He even carried a film, The Rage in Placid Lake, showing range beyond music. What I value most is his persistence: rather than chasing trends, he kept building a quietly substantial body of work. To me, artists who simply keep writing and releasing their own songs over decades are the most trustworthy of all, and Lee is a fine example.
