My Take
Billy Hinsche lived a life that genuinely moved me. Born in Manila, he found teen-idol fame in the trio Dino, Desi & Billy, then matured into a keyboardist anchoring the Beach Boys' backing band. Going from front-and-center star to the trusted craftsman behind a legendary group takes a person who simply loves music more than the limelight. His versatility across composing, singing and guitar deepens my respect. He passed in 2021 after more than half a century immersed in sound. I quietly applaud a career like his, and I suspect a man who knew both the stage and the wings made music with real depth.
