My Take

At 206 centimeters out of Lubumbashi, Bismack Biyombo is the kind of NBA story I never tire of. Seventh overall in the 2011 draft, then a long career built on defense, rebounding, and effort rather than scoring highlights. Those players keep teams honest and rarely get the credit. What I respect most, beyond the rim protection, is the Congolese roots; players from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who reach the NBA tend to carry a whole region's hopes and often give back hard. His game says hustle pays, and his journey from Lubumbashi to the league is its own argument for what persistence buys.
