Branko Ivankovic is a seasoned wanderer of a coach to me. Born in Cakovec, Croatia in 1954, he had a long playing career at Varteks before turning to management and building most of his reputation in Asia, leading the likes of Iran and China. Holding a squad together across that many cultures and languages is no small skill, and the experience shows. At 181cm he's the type who carries authority just sitting on the bench. Anyone who keeps getting results across decades and continents has a steadiness under pressure that's hard not to admire, even if it's a little exasperating how unflappable he seems.
