Bryan Robson

Bryan Robson is my idea of a captain you'd follow into anything. Coming out of Chester-le-Street, he built his name at West Brom before becoming Manchester United's longest-serving skipper, and the nickname Captain Marvel was no exaggeration. What I respect most is the sheer physical commitment, the way he played through injuries and led by sweating harder than anyone. The OBE is fitting, yet he never carried himself like an elite; he was pure grit and graft. Moving into coaching afterward feels true to character. For me he represents an era of English football that prized heart as much as talent.
