My Take

Carlton Morris is the sort of footballer I quietly root for. Born in Cambridge in 1995 and once an England under-19, he did not glide straight to the top; he ground through loans at York, Hamilton, Shrewsbury, Rotherham and the rest before clawing his way to the Premier League with Luton Town and now Derby County. That winding road tells you about persistence more than any highlight reel. A 185 cm striker who can hold the ball up, battle and finish has always been a valuable commodity, and a hard-working one who paid those dues earns my respect rather than my pity.
