Honestly, Hisako Kanemoto is one of those voice actresses I respect more the longer I listen. She broke out fast — snagging a Best New Actress award barely into her career back in 2011 — and you can hear why: there's this slightly nasal, instantly likable sweetness to her voice that she somehow bends in a dozen directions. One minute she's the goofy Squid Girl, the next a poised, well-bred princess, then a razor-sharp clever type, and I'll admit I sometimes don't clock that it's the same person. What gets me is that she's not just a voice — she sings too, and the whole vibe is quietly diligent, craft-first, no flash. A Kurashiki kid who just kept stacking good work.
