My Take

Caroline Link is the real deal, and I do not say that lightly. Winning the Academy Award for Best International Feature with Nowhere in Africa, plus an earlier nomination for Beyond Silence, proves she is no one-hit director but a filmmaker of sustained craft. What impresses me most is her instinct for quiet, emotionally intricate human stories rather than spectacle.
