Cary Elwes

Cary Elwes is one of those actors who could have coasted forever on a single role — and honestly, nobody would have blamed him, because Westley in The Princess Bride is one of the most effortlessly charming leading-man performances in cinema history. That smirk, that swashbuckling ease, the "As you wish" — it's lightning-in-a-bottle stuff. But what I actually appreciate is how he leaned into self-parody with Mel Brooks in Robin Hood: Men in Tights without losing any of his cool, and then completely flipped the script by jumping into the Saw franchise as a desperate, morally grey doctor. That range — fairy-tale hero to torture-chamber victim — tells you this guy was always more than a pretty face in tights.
