Daiki Konomura

Daiki Konomura is one of those quietly determined types who lets the game do the talking. He quit the football club at Tokyo International University after a year, rebuilt himself in the Saitama amateur league, and then spent a decade in Thailand, finishing as top scorer in the southern region of Thai League 3 in 2018. That tells you something: this wasn't a guy handed anything. Now back home in Niigata as manager and general manager of Tsubamesanjo City FC, he is passing that hard-won experience on. He has an Instagram account, but I find his long road more compelling than any highlight reel.
