My Take
Dami Im is, to me, a model of earned excellence. Born in Seoul and emigrating to Australia at nine, she went on to the University of Queensland and represented her adopted country at Eurovision 2016, where "Sound of Silence" placed second and set Australia's highest-ever score. There's something deeply moving about an immigrant kid carrying a nation's hopes onto that stage. Beyond the impressive resume, I hear real conviction in her voice, the kind that comes from struggle. I have a soft spot for straightforward, hard-won talent, and Im embodies exactly that.
