Dan Stevens is one of those actors who keeps pulling off transformations you genuinely don't see coming. He broke hearts walking away from Downton Abbey at the height of Matthew Crawley's popularity, which felt like career suicide at the time — but then he turned around and played the Beast in Disney's 2017 Beauty and the Beast with this weird, soulful CGI physicality that actually worked, and followed it up with Legion, one of the most gloriously unhinged superhero shows ever made.
