My Take
Dana Carvey owns one of the great Saturday Night Live runs, seven seasons from 1986 to 1993 that earned him five straight Emmy nominations and one win. The Church Lady and Garth from Wayne's World are burned into my memory, but what I admire most is his uncanny gift for impressions; his George H. W. Bush was so sharp it practically defined the man for a generation. He has the rare ability to disappear into a character while keeping that mischievous, slightly anarchic energy underneath. A Montana kid who became one of the sharpest sketch comedians of his era, he still feels effortlessly funny to me whenever he resurfaces.
