Daniel Bedingfield

Daniel Bedingfield captured a very specific early-2000s moment that I still find endearing. His debut, Gotta Get thru This, produced three UK number ones and sold over a million and a half copies, and his blend of garage-flavoured production with a soulful, vulnerable voice felt genuinely ahead of the curve. There is something charming about a New Zealand-born talent storming the British charts on instinct and emotion. I am fond of artists who define a brief, bright cultural window like he did, and I hope he is still writing and singing somewhere, on his own terms.
