My Take

Darren Emerson sits at an interesting hinge point in nineties dance music. As part of Underworld during their most influential years, he helped shape a sound that bled out of clubs and into the wider culture, and I respect that he later stepped out to build his own producing and DJ identity rather than ride that legacy. Coming out of Hornchurch on the edge of London, he reads to me like a product of that restless British rave era.
