My Take
Mike Posner is, to me, proof that a hit song and a real artist aren't the same thing. He broke through with Cooler Than Me while still tied to Duke University, and that polished pop start could have boxed him in forever. Instead, what I admire is the restlessness underneath it: a Detroit kid who kept writing, producing for others, and chasing poetry and meaning rather than just chart positions. The early fame feels almost like a costume he eventually outgrew. I'd rather follow an artist who keeps searching, and Posner reads to me as someone genuinely trying to figure out who he is.
