My Take
Dean Butler will always be Almanzo Wilder from Little House on the Prairie to most viewers, and that earnest, decent young man left a mark precisely because Butler seemed to genuinely embody it. What I find admirable, though, is the second act: after building a name as an actor, he moved behind the camera as a producer and director working on sports and documentary programming. Knowing both the glamour of performing and the patient craft of building a project makes for a grounded career. There's a quiet Canadian warmth to him, and I respect performers who keep evolving rather than coasting on nostalgia.
