Deon Cole

Deon Cole has a relaxed comic authority I find genuinely rare. As Charlie on Black-ish, he delivered absurdist lines with a deadpan that landed every time, and it makes sense once you know he honed his craft writing for Conan O'Brien. That writer's instinct shows in how he uses silence and timing as an actor, mining the spaces between words. For someone with NAACP and SAG nominations, he carries zero desperation, which only makes him more watchable. I deeply trust performers who can be quietly, structurally funny, and Cole is one of them.
