My Take

Dua Lipa earns my admiration for timing and nerve. Releasing Future Nostalgia into a locked-down world could have backfired; instead she gave people a reason to dance in their kitchens, and the record became era-defining pop. I love the contrast at her core — a cool, almost deadpan voice delivering some of the most physical dance music of her generation. The arc from London-raised daughter of Kosovar parents to Grammy winner and honorary ambassador for Kosovo shows a loyalty to her roots that fame rarely preserves. She strikes me as that rare pop star who treats craft, image, and identity as one deliberate project.
