Emma de Caunes

Emma de Caunes intrigues me as an actress who was clearly marked for the future early on, winning the César for Best Female Revelation in 1998 and the Prix Romy Schneider in 2002, both prizes France reserves for its most promising talents. What deepens my interest is that she didn't stop at performing; moving into screenwriting and directing signals an artist who wants to shape stories, not just appear in them. There's a particularly French blend of unforced poise and intelligence I associate with actors like her. I'd happily follow her filmography closely, because creators who refuse to stay on one side of the camera usually keep surprising you.
