Raoul Peck is a director I genuinely champion. From Port-au-Prince to a film school in Berlin, he has spent his career aiming the camera straight at power and history, whether through I Am Not Your Negro, Lumumba, or The Young Karl Marx. What impresses me most is that he also served as Haiti's culture minister, so his politics are not a pose adopted from a safe distance. He refuses to comfort his audience; he hands them hard questions instead.
