My Take

What draws me to Emmanuelle Bercot is her refusal to stay on one side of the camera. Acting and directing each demand a different kind of nerve, and the fact that France keeps decorating her, all the way up to Officer of Arts and Letters, tells me her films carry weight rather than novelty.
