My Take
What draws me to Eric Stewart is his quiet craftsmanship. From the Mindbenders to a long, defining run with 10cc, he was never the loudest name in the room, yet his fingerprints are all over some of the cleverest pop-rock ever made. I admire artists who chase texture and songwriting over spotlight, and Stewart strikes me as exactly that kind of multi-instrumentalist and producer. Born in 1945 near Manchester, he carries that unflashy English studio sensibility I find irresistible. That he is still writing and sharing words today tells me the creative spark never dimmed, which is the part I respect most.
