My Take
Fiona Shaw is, to my mind, the gold standard of what stage training does for an actor. Decades with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre gave her an authority that bends every scene toward her, whether she is playing Petunia Dursley in Harry Potter or the magnificently dry spymaster of Killing Eve, which earned her a BAFTA. The Olivier Awards and the honorary CBE merely confirm what the eye already knows: this is craft of the highest order. Whenever her name appears in a cast list, I immediately trust the entire production a little more. Cork should be proud.
