Gavan O'Herlihy

Gavan O'Herlihy is the sort of actor I quietly champion: rarely the lead, always the texture. Born in Dublin, schooled at Trinity, and the son of the great Dan O'Herlihy, he carried a craftsman's pedigree. His vanishing Chuck Cunningham on Happy Days became a cult footnote, but his real value showed in films like Superman III and Willow, where he sharpened scenes without stealing them. Movies need players who anchor the edges, and he did it for decades. He passed in 2021, yet to me he stays a working master of the supporting role.
