My Take

Gavin Rossdale is one of those voices that instantly drops me back into the 1990s. As the frontman of Bush, he gave us that gritty, post-grunge sound that defined a whole era of alternative rock, and I still think Bush were underrated by critics even as fans devoured them. What I admire is his persistence: when the band split in 2002 he didn't vanish, he formed Institute, went solo, then brought Bush back in 2010. That's an artist who refuses to let his creative identity die. Add the guitar work and his later turn toward acting, and Rossdale reads to me as a genuine rock survivor.
