Glenn Gregory

To me, Glenn Gregory is one of the quiet anchors of British synth-pop. There's something poetic about a voice this polished coming from a Sheffield steelworker's son, and Heaven 17's blend of dancefloor sheen and political bite still sounds sharper than most of its peers. What earns my respect is longevity: more than fifty years in, he never coasted on nostalgia or chased trends, instead leaning on craft as a singer, saxophonist and composer. I admire artists who outlast their moment by sheer taste rather than reinvention, and Gregory strikes me as exactly that kind of durable, understated musician.
