Hannah Stambaugh

Okay, Hannah Stambaugh — that name alone is doing a lot of heavy lifting and I mean that as a compliment. Born on Christmas Eve 1998 in Tokyo, her name is written in kanji as "華" (Hana, meaning "flower") while her surname comes from her American father, and that collision is genuinely fascinating. She went from JFA Academy Fukushima to INAC Kobe and Omiya Ardija Ventus, then took the leap to the NWSL, which honestly makes me more curious, not less. Goalkeepers who keep chasing the next level tend to be the ones worth watching over the long haul. I'm keeping an eye on this one.
