My Take

I have such a soft spot for Helen Hunt, because she's one of those actors who makes everything look effortless until you realize how hard "effortless" actually is. I grew up with her as Jamie on Mad About You, and that show lived or died on her chemistry and timing, four Emmys' worth of it. Then she pivots to As Good as It Gets and just quietly holds her own opposite Jack Nicholson, which is no small feat, and walks off with an Oscar. There's a grounded, slightly weary warmth she brings, the everywoman who's smarter than the room but never showy about it. She also directs now, which fits her completely. I'll always root for her.
