Hirofumi Arai

This one is hard to write. Hirofumi Arai, born Park Kyung-bae, a Zainichi Korean from Hirosaki, was one of the most magnetic supporting actors in Japanese film, the man directors cast when a scene needed real menace. Then in 2019 he was convicted in a sexual assault case and imprisoned. That ended the career he had; his only return so far was a one-night guest spot on a stage production in December 2025. The films still exist. So does what he did.
