Hitomi Uneda

I first noticed Hitomi Uneda as one of those faces that kept quietly reappearing in NHK's morning dramas — Asa ga Kita, Beppin-san, Warotenka, Manpuku — four in a row, which is not a coincidence, that's a casting department basically saying "she just works." Born in 1994 in Osaka, she studied at Otemae University's media and arts faculty while already landing TV roles, which tells you she was serious about craft early. The trumpet thing (marching band through middle and high school) feels oddly fitting — there's a discipline to brass playing that maps onto showing up reliably in ensemble casts and not chewing the scenery. She's the kind of actor whose name you might not drop at a party but whose face makes a scene feel grounded. Watching her career tick steadily forward into Aibou and Ohoku, I get the sense she's playing a long game, and honestly, that's the more interesting bet.
