My Take

Ian Madigan is the kind of fly-half I enjoy watching: a thinker at the controls. Born in Dublin in 1989 and a Blackrock College product, he played for Leinster, Bordeaux, Bristol Bears, Ulster and Ireland across a well-travelled career. At fly-half, plus stints at centre and full-back, he had to read the game rather than simply overpower it. Wearing the green jersey and lining up pressure kicks is a mental burden few of us could handle, yet he stood in that spot again and again. I value that quiet versatility over raw flash any day.
