My Take
Ian McNeice is one of those British character actors who can hijack a scene the instant he appears, and I mean that as the highest compliment. With his portly frame and that unmistakable voice, he's given us Bert Large in Doc Martin, the Newsreader in Rome and even Winston Churchill in Doctor Who. He's never the lead, yet a production gains real texture the moment he walks on. Born in 1950 and still working across stage, film and television, his stamina alone earns my respect. Honestly, I grin a little whenever he shows up. That's the mark of a deeply trusted performer.
