My Take
Ichirō Tamura is the kind of guy who makes you reconsider what "late bloomer" means. He came out of Rikkyo University as a sixth-round draft pick for the Saitama Seibu Lions in 2016, then spent years in the bullpen quietly grinding — not flashy, not a headline grabber, just putting in the work. It took until 2021 for his first professional win, which for most people would feel like a gut punch, but he stuck around and by 2023 he was posting a 1.52 ERA that would make any team's closer jealous. The fact that he holds teaching credentials on top of a pro baseball career says it all — this is someone playing the long game, in more ways than one.
