Irina Lăzăreanu

What captivates me about Irina Lăzăreanu is the trajectory: from Cluj-Napoca in Romania to the heart of fashion, becoming a Chanel ambassador and muse to Karl Lagerfeld and Nicolas Ghesquière. Plenty of models reach that altitude, but few then pivot to folk music with a debut album produced by Sean Lennon. Her association with Pete Doherty places her squarely in the dreamy, decadent texture of the 2000s. I admire artists who refuse a single identity, and she clearly inhabits two with equal conviction. To me she reads less as a face to be styled and more as a voice insisting on being heard on its own terms.
