Takumi Kitamura

Here's what gets me about Takumi Kitamura: the guy started as a child actor and somehow never picked up that polished, slightly worn-out sheen so many kid stars carry into adulthood. He's got this clean-cut, soft-featured leading-man face onscreen, and then he turns around, slings a guitar over his shoulder, grabs the mic, and just sings, and I'm sitting there going wait, you do both? Actor, vocalist, model, voice work, the whole spread that usually screams jack-of-all-trades, and he actually lands each one, which is honestly a little infuriating. What disarms me, though, is how unforced he seems, no elbows out, no hunger for the spotlight, just quietly good at everything. That low-key competence is the most dangerous kind, and he wears it without a trace of smugness, so I keep finding myself queued up for whatever he does next.
