My Take
Isla Fisher strikes me as one of comedy's most underrated technicians. Born in Muscat and raised in Australia, she came up through soap opera, which I think explains her precision — that training teaches you to land emotion fast, with no wasted beats. She steals scenes in ensembles, holds her own in spectacles like The Great Gatsby, and her voice work in Rango and Horton Hears a Who! proves the comic timing survives even without her famously expressive face. Add the books she writes on the side, and you get a performer whose range keeps outpacing her reputation. I keep waiting for the industry to catch up to her.
