Jakob Dylan

Carrying the surname Dylan into music is a near-impossible inheritance, and that is exactly why I admire Jakob Dylan. He could have traded forever on his father's myth; instead he built the Wallflowers and wrote his own songs through the 1990s, earning a place on his own terms. There is a quiet stubbornness in that choice I find genuinely moving. His weathered voice carries an obvious lineage, yet it is unmistakably his own. I think he deserves to be heard without the constant comparison, as a real songwriter who chose the harder route of authenticity over imitation.
