Jamelia

Jamelia is an artist I think deserves more lasting credit. With three Top 40 albums, eight Top 10 singles and four MOBO Awards, she was a defining voice of 2000s British pop, and her nine BRIT nominations capture both her reach and the near-misses that gave her career a poignant edge. What I appreciate most is her versatility; she moved from chart success into television presenting without losing her identity. There's a grounded resilience to her, an artist who kept reinventing rather than fading. For anyone mapping the sound of modern UK pop, Jamelia is an essential, underrated name.
