James Vowles

What fascinates me about James Vowles is that he embodies the unseen genius of Formula One. He wasn't the driver winning glory on track; he was the strategist plotting how victory could be won. His fingerprints are all over Brawn GP's miraculous 2009 title and Mercedes' golden era. Now, as Williams Team Principal, he's tasked with resurrecting a fallen giant, and that to me is the most compelling kind of challenge. I've always believed races are decided as much in the radio calls and pit-wall decisions as in the cockpit, and Vowles is living proof of that quiet, decisive influence.
