My Take
Jan Ravens fascinates me because her instrument is other people. As an impressionist on Spitting Image and Dead Ringers, she builds whole personalities out of voice and timing alone, which is a far harder craft than it looks. I respect that she came through Homerton College and then carved out a long career in a comedy world that rarely makes room for that kind of vocal precision. Being an improviser as well means she can think on her feet, and the move into directing suggests an artist unwilling to stay in one seat. To me she is a quiet technician whose skill is easy to underrate.
