Jane Asher

Jane Asher is one of those British figures who keeps quietly reinventing herself, and I find that genuinely impressive. She's probably most famous in pop culture circles for being Paul McCartney's girlfriend through the height of Beatlemania, but reducing her to that feels deeply unfair — the woman has been acting since she was a child, held her own opposite Vincent Price in The Masque of the Red Death, and delivered a quietly devastating performance in Deep End. Then she pivoted into writing novels and became a legitimate authority on cake decorating, complete with her own cake business and books that actual bakers swear by. And in 2015 she picked up an honorary doctorate. She never chased the tabloid spotlight; she just kept working, kept creating, and somehow made actress-novelist-cake-artist feel like a perfectly coherent career. That kind of stubborn, multi-track creativity across six decades earns real respect from me.
