My Take

Japhet Tanganga is a player I've watched with a mix of admiration and frustration. A Hackney kid who came through the Tottenham academy, he burst onto the scene as a versatile, fearless defender, and for a while it looked like he could be a long-term fixture for them. Injuries and squad logjams got in the way, which is the cruel reality of the modern game. I like that he's rebuilt himself, and captaining a club in the Championship like Sheffield United says a lot about his leadership and character. At his age there's still a real chance to write a better chapter than his early setbacks suggested.
