Jehnny Beth

Jehnny Beth, born Camille Berthomier in Poitiers, is one of those rare artists who treats every medium as a place to tell the truth. As the frontwoman of Savages she sang like she was daring the room to look away, and that same fearless intensity carries into her acting, her stage work, and her directing. Her 2020 solo album confirmed she does not need a band to command attention. What draws me to her is the coexistence of menace and tenderness in everything she makes. Few performers move so fluidly between worlds while keeping their core absolutely intact. I find her endlessly watchable.
