My Take
I admire Jenna Ushkowitz for refusing to be defined by a single hit. Born in Seoul and raised in the United States, she became a household face as Tina on Glee, sharing in a Screen Actors Guild ensemble award. But what really earns my respect is the harder road she chose afterward: Broadway, with The King and I and Waitress, culminating in a Tony-winning revival in 2018. Plenty of television stars never prove themselves onstage, where there is nowhere to hide. She did, and quietly so. That kind of disciplined, genuine craft is rarer than fame, and far more durable.
